Andrea Di Giovanni was born in Palermo in 1978, pianist, composer, choral and orchestral conductor, Sound Engineer, he completed his musical studies in piano and conducting at the State Music Conservatory "V. Bellini" of Palermo and his studies in composition at the State Music Conservatory "A. Scontrino" of Trapani, where he also obtained (Cum Laude) the first level degree in Music and New Technologies (Sound Engineering). The teachers who have guided him in the course of study have been: M° Bolone, M° Cellizza G. for Piano; M° Ghiglione M. and M° Bini G. for Choral Music and Direction; M° Pittino M. and M° Lanza S. for Composition; M° Spinnato G. and M° Grassadonia L. for Score Reading; M° Sciajno D. for Music and New Technologies. He obtained the European certificate of specialization in Studio Assistant in audio technologies at the Accademia Teatro alla Scala with the help of teachers Stefano Barzan and Massimo Mariani. In 2004 he obtained the European certificate for the Professional Training Course for Master Collaborators in the Lyric Theatre, organized by the Ente Luglio Musicale (Tp), lyric theater of tradition, covering the roles of master collaborator of the hall, dance, stage, lights, prompter, working with conductors and directors such as: Janos Acs, Bruno Aprea, Roberto Tolomelli, Aldo Sisillo, Beppe De Tomasi, Mario Corradi, Sandro Santillo, for the realization of the works on the bill: La Norma (V. Bellini), Attila (G. Verdi), Traviata (G. Verdi). In the same year he was engaged by the Ente Luglio Musicale (Tp) as pianist, thirty concerts on a program taken from: Le Nozze di Figaro by W. A. Mozart, flanked by a group of solo opera voices. He has participated in conducting Master Classes held by Maestro Stanislaw Krawczynski, Rector of the Academy of Music in Krakow, conducting the "Drei Motetten Op.39 by Felix Mendelssohn-Bartholdy".
He has participated in seminars on Musical Semiotics, held by Prof. Eero Tarasti (Professor of Musicology at the University of Helsinki, founder and president since 1979 of the Finnish Society of Semiotics, founder and director of Isi in Imatra since 1988 and President of Iass/Ais since 2004).
He has participated in lectures given by M° Peter Maag, Daniel Oren, Maurizio Arena, at the Teatro Massimo of Palermo. He has been engaged by the Ente Luglio Musicale (Tp) for the 57th Opera Season in winter 2004 as a collaborating maestro for the following operas: "Facciamo un Opera: Il piccolo spazzacamino" by B. Britten; "Le Nozze di Figaro" by W. A. Mozart. He was assistant to M° R. Kettelson, M° Paul Hess, M° S. Orselli for the coordination of the Course of Initiation and Professional Training for opera singers, organized by the Ente Luglio Musicale for the same works in the bill as: "Let's do an Opera - The Little Chimney Sweep" by Benjamin Britten, and "The Marriage of Figaro" by W. A. Mozart, also working with conductors such as: M° Grassadonia Luigi, M° Paul Hess and the director F. Micheli. He has been engaged by the Ente Luglio Musicale (Tp) for the 58th Season 2005 as master collaborator for the production of "Andrea Chenie'r" (U. Giordano), collaborating with the conductor R. Tolomelli and the director M. Corradi; "Un Ballo in Maschera" (G. Verdi) collaborating with the conductor B. Aprea and the director M. Z. Zucchi. Aprea and the director M. Znaniecki; "Cavalleria Rusticana" (P. Mascagni) and "Pagliacci" (R. Leoncavallo), collaborating with the conductor S. Mercurio and the director M. Corradi. He has been engaged by the Ente Luglio Musicale (Tp) for the 12th Artistic Season 2006/2007 as a master collaborator and assistant director, for the opera "L'Arca di Noè" by B. Britten, collaborating with the conductor L. Grassadonia and the director U. Cantone. He was engaged by the Ente Lirico Teatrale Torre del Lago Puccini as assistant director for the opera Tosca (G. Puccini) of the 2007 season (staging signed by Igor Mitoraj), working with the director M. Corradi and the conductor Keri Lynn Wilson. In 2005 and 2006 he worked as assistant audio technician, for sound events, visuals, installations and live performances for "XS (n.o.s.a) Not_only_sonic_acts" at the San Saverio Gallery in Palermo -ANTITESI- Center of self-documentation, research and interdisciplinary development for new art. He participates in National and International Competitions both as pianist and composer: National Musical Competition "Città di Modica" (section piano solo); International Competition of composition "Strumenti di Pace" 2nd Edition (Presid. E. Morricone) in Rovereto; International Competition of composition "Città di Udine", National Competition of Composition "F. Agnello" promoted by CIDIM, Mario Nascimbene Award International Competition for film music, The International Uuno Klami Composition Competition (Finland), Pierrot Lunaire International Composition Competition (Vienna-Austria) etc., writing for various formations and in multiple styles, dictated by his multifaceted cultural and artistic training. In May 2010 he collaborated with M° S. Mirabelli at the Fondazione Orchestra Sinfonica Siciliana as Maestro collaborator for the realization of the opera "Walkure" by R. Wagner. In the period between May and June 2010, he was a lecturer for the First Level Master in Applied Music to Cinema, at the Conservatory of Music "N. Piccinni" of Bari, for the following subjects: Realization of audio on audio-video sequencing and Applied Music to Cinema. The Conservatory "Niccolò Piccinni" of Bari published a volume related to the above mentioned Master with the didactic plans of the single teachers and the thesis of the students. He has been supervisor for the following theses concerning the above mentioned Master: "The role of music in the movie "Aleksandr Nevskij"" by Sergej Michajlovic Eisenstein; "Relationship between music and film action in the first scene of the movie "C'era una volta il West"" by S. Leone - E. Morricone. In April 2011 he collaborated with Maestro S. Mirabelli at the Fondazione Teatro Massimo of Palermo, as a collaborator for the realization of the Opera in the bill "The Greek Passion" by B. Martinù. In April 2012 he was selected by the Accademia Teatro alla Scala, for the project "Digit Ars", funded by the European Union-European Social Fund. In 2012 he organized at the cloister of the town of Piadena (CR) as pianist and musical director, the concert "The Phantom of the Opera" with solo opera voices, instrumentalists and actress of prose. In September 2015 pianist at the opera concert at the Municipal Theatre "Mauro Pagano" in Canneto sull'Oglio (Mn) with soloists of the Teatro alla Scala. He was a piano teacher at the Musical Institute "Navarra" of Gela- Cl (associated with ISSM A. Toscanini of Ribera). In 2016 he is a finalist at the International Composition Competition "FILM MUSIC 2016" organized by the Association "Ravel". He has been a piano teacher at the Civic Municipal School of Music "Il Ritornello" in Piadena- Cremona. He is founder, Artistic and Musical Director of the International Chamber Music Competition now at its 7th edition and of the International Music Competition "Classic Artists on line" now at its 5th edition. He is a member of the Baroque Ensemble of the Music Association "Musica della sera" located in Via Veneto, 14 90144 Palermo, Ensemble that performs in the most beautiful sites of Sicilian Baroque making also recordings for RAI. He teaches Musical Acoustics in the three-year and two-year degree courses at the Istituto Superiore di Studi Musicali "Monteverdi" in Cremona. He teaches Choral Laboratory, Musical Informatics, Musical Acoustics and Psychoacoustics, Instrumental Laboratory, ensemble music and improvisation, Functional Piano, at the three-year course of Music Therapy at the Conservatory of Music L. Campiani of Mantua. He teaches Musical Acoustics and Psychoacoustics in the three-year and two-year degree course in Music and New Technologies at the Conservatory N. Paganini in Genoa. He is President of the Musical Association "Stanze dell'Arte". He teaches piano at the S. Bernardino Academy (BS). He plays and composes different genres ranging from classical music to light music (jazz, blues, etc.), contemporary, experimental electroacoustic and electronic music, and has excellent skills in musical improvisation. He performs both as a pianist, collaborating with various chamber ensembles, and as a choral and orchestral conductor in various associations and theaters distributed in the national and international territory. He realizes projects of interactive multimedia art installations.
He has several publications both of compositional and didactic nature.
